Two Year Wedding & Family Anniversary
Today is our two year wedding anniversary, but as we like to say, today is our two year family anniversary! We made a video accompanied by this post to share with you a little bit about our story and how excited we are to be celebrating two years together as a family.
Our Family’s Story
For many years, I was a single mom. My first husband passed away when Daniel was only four years old from a motorcycle accident. Almost two years before he survived a previous motorcycle accident, but the second one ended up taking his life. You can only imagine how hard it is to lose a spouse along with trying to raise a little boy who also misses his Daddy. I can remember several moments when Daniel would cry missing his Daddy and ask Jesus to bring him back. He would pray for a family and to have a dad again.
I wanted to have a husband again, a helpmate, someone to talk to every day and share every moment of my life. To have a father to my growing boy. Many nights, I cried myself to sleep and prayed for comfort. I was grieving, but I also had peace knowing that God’s plans for my life and my son’s life were greater than mine. Three months later, I needed a major surgery. I was physically alone, but I trusted Him even when everything was dark around me.
A few years later, God gave us more than we could ever ask for; He gave us Robert. Robert honestly did not know that he wanted a family. He was single and had never been married. Robert had also been into two motorcycle accidents that beat him up pretty badly, but he survived. After the accidents he decided to live with purpose living a God-first life. We came along and changed his world as he changed ours. Daniel and Robert enjoyed playing sports together and doing “man” things. I was the perfect complement to Robert, the companion he never knew he needed. God literally brought us together at such the right time.
Our lives have been redeemed.
God gave Daniel a father again and gave me an amazing husband. Robert got what he never knew he needed, a wife and a child. We don’t take this lightly and strive to life our lives honoring God and telling people how he can change their lives too.
Today we are celebrating our two year family and wedding anniversary and rejoicing how we have been brought together as a family and redeemed on purpose, for a purpose. God is so faithful answering each one of our prayers better than we ever expected.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
